Frank Walsh is the new Township Manager working directly with the Township and various departments of the Meridian Charter Township. Every four years, the Township Board is elected by its residents.
Mr. Walsh was born in Lansing and raised just south of Meridian in Pleasant lake, he is excited for his return, stating, “My family is ready to move home and become part of what I consider to be one of the best towns in Michigan.”
As Township Manager, Mr. Walsh is responsible for overseeing the day-to-day operations of the Township which include budget preparation and administration, personnel, public service, public safety, public works, parks and recreation, and community relations. The many Department Directors report directly to the Township Manager.
Before coming to the Meridian Township, Frank Walsh served as the City Manage in St. Joseph since 1996. His political career began at the age of 19 when he was first elected to the board in Jackson Township. He has over 25 years’ experience in municipal management. Mr. Walsh attended the University of Toledo where he received a Master’s Degree in Public Administration. He was awarded the State of Michigan’s City Manager Award in 2007, the highest award given in state municipal management.
